"She is the smallest in her class and often gets picked on for being tiny. She really wanted a BIG GIRLS ROOM so I’ve surprised her with a wee room makeover while she is at school. Hope she loves it," she said, also adding that much of the furniture was from Kmart.

People were quick to comment on the photos with one user writing, "What 13 year old girl wouldn’t love it? It looks fabulous good work."

Another said, "She’ll love it ! I’m 26 and want a room like that."

Someone else added, "What a difficult path you have all led. Your little lady deserves a big girl room."

Speaking with Yahoo Lifestyle, Emma shared that her daughter Brooklynn has chronic asthma which has affected her her whole life.

"She is prone to mucus plugging in her lungs. Healthy non-asthmatics can cough up their phlegm and mucus, but she is unable to, so the mucus plugs up her lobes in her lungs and they collapse so she ends up in hospital needing oxygen to breathe."

She added, "She has regular physiotherapy to help with this and is now on a drug to strengthen her lungs."

Emma reveals that Brooklynn had been asking for a room makeover for some time, "Turning 13 she told me, and I quote, 'I’m practically an adult soon mum.... I need a non babyish room'. They grow up too fast!"

Unsurprisingly, Brooklynn was stunned to see her new room after arriving home from school, "Oh my God, she was so happy and excited. It really was the cutest reaction and her reaction made it all worth the effort I put in to it."

She added that there were a few things Brookylnn already had in her room like the bed and the picture hanging above her bed.

"I tried to incorporate the colours of the picture into her bedding and accessories . She is quite girly and loves makeup (I’m a makeup artist) so the new makeup vanity made her room and she now has a place to store her beloved Jeffree Star makeup and brushes."

The makeup vanity ended up being Brooklynn's favourite part of the room, while Emma's favourite part was seeing the room tie in together as well as her daughter's reaction.

In terms of advice Emma might have for other parents, she said making a plan is important as well as asking your child what they actually want.

Though she went over her budget, Emma also said that having a number in mind is also important.

When asked if she expected the lovely reaction from people on Facebook, Emma said she didn't expect it at all, "No I honestly didn’t expect all the LOVELY comments, there were no negative comments which was great. Everyone had nothing but lovely things to say."
