Navarro Turned Away by Supreme Court on Presidential Records
(Bloomberg) -- The US Supreme Court refused to hear an appeal from Peter Navarro, the formerly imprisoned official whom President-elect Donald Trump has tapped to be his senior counselor for trade and manufacturing.

Navarro sought Supreme Court intervention in a clash over records he retained on his personal email account when he served in a similar capacity during Trump’s first term in the White House.
Navarro asked the justices to order dismissal of a Justice Department lawsuit that seeks to recover the disputed records. The high court turned away the appeal without comment, as is its usual practice when it refuses to hear a case.
The Biden administration, which says the Presidential Records Act requires Navarro to return the materials, didn’t respond to his Supreme Court filing. That’s a step the government often takes when it deems an appeal has little chance of being taken up.
Navarro served four months in prison after being found guilty on one count of contempt of Congress. He was prosecuted after refusing to comply with a subpoena to testify and provide documents to a House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol.
The case is Navarro v. United States, 24-451.
