NBA betting: Bettors confident 76ers will bounce back vs. Hawks

The Philadelphia 76ers were upset by the Atlanta Hawks at home in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series, but most bettors are confident that Philly will bounce back.

The Hawks were on fire early and took a commanding halftime lead in Game 1. The Sixers fought back in the second half, but the deficit was too much to overcome in a Hawks 128-124 victory.

Entering Game 2 on Tuesday night, the Sixers are favored by six points at BetMGM. The Sixers opened as five-point favorites, but that figure has climbed to six with the majority of bettors siding with Philly.

According to BetMGM, 66% of the bets and 75% of the money are on the Sixers covering the spread and evening the series at 1-1 before it heads to Atlanta.

The Sixers have been the favorite in all six of their playoff games so far. They are 4-2 against the spread in those games. The Hawks are 3-1 ATS as an underdog in the playoffs with three outright wins.

Bettors are heavily favoring the over, too. The total opened at 222.5, but moved up a point to 223.5. Per BetMGM, 80% of the tickets and 83% of the money have come in on the over.

Jazz-Clippers series opens up

On the heels of a Game 7 victory over the Dallas Mavericks, the Los Angeles Clippers will head to Salt Lake City to square off with the Utah Jazz, the West’s top seed.

The Jazz beat the Memphis Grizzlies in five games in the first round, so there’s a clear rest advantage here for Utah. The Jazz are four-point favorites for Game 1 on Tuesday night with the total at 220.5.

Bettors are largely riding with the Jazz. Per BetMGM, 77% of the bets and 78% of the money is on Utah. The over is a popular play with 66% of the bets and 73% of the money on the over.

All five of the Jazz’s first-round games against the Grizzlies went over the total.
