NBA betting: Clippers' title odds plummet after Kawhi Leonard injury

It was a busy morning of news in the NBA, and the odds movement over at BetMGM reflected that.

Two of the game's biggest stars — Kawhi Leonard of the Los Angeles Clippers and Chris Paul of the Phoenix Suns — will be sidelined indefinitely. As a result, the NBA title odds saw pretty substantial movement.

The Clippers, who are tied 2-2 in their Western Conference semifinals series with the Utah Jazz, dropped from +500 to win it all to +1100. Leonard has been dominant in the postseason and was averaging 27.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and four assists per game before he hurt his knee.

With Paul sidelined for an undetermined period of time after an apparent positive test for COVID-19, the Suns’ odds only dropped slightly from +400 to +450.

The Jazz, meanwhile, saw their odds move from +400 up to +300. Should the Jazz advance past the Clippers, they would face the Suns in the Western Conference Finals. Game 5 of the Jazz-Clippers series will be played Wednesday night.

The Jazz have the second-best odds of the remaining teams, trailing the Brooklyn Nets. The Nets are dealing with injuries to Kyrie Irving and James Harden, but still saw their odds jump from +275 to +200.

The Nets took a 3-2 series lead over the Milwaukee Bucks thanks to a remarkable effort from Kevin Durant. Durant scored 49 points and added 17 rebounds and 10 assists in a come-from-behind Game 5 victory on Tuesday night.

The Bucks currently have +800 odds to win the title, just behind the Philadelphia 76ers at +700. The 76ers are tied 2-2 with the Atlanta Hawks in their Eastern Conference semifinal series. The Hawks have the longest NBA title odds at +5000.
