Neighbours' Olympia Valance has a new role

From Digital Spy

Former Neighbours star Olympia Valance is set to return to our screens.

The 25-year-old actress left the Australian soap earlier this year, and will now be joining Channel 10's new sport drama show, Playing For Keeps.

She recently told TV Week how she can't wait to start filming the series about Aussie rules football.

"It is incredibly exciting," Valance said. "I feel very honoured to be part of a show that I know is going to be something special."

Valance will be playing Tahlia, the fiancé of the team's captain – so kind of like a WAG but not as rich. She immediately knew the role was for her.

"When I read the script, I just knew that I had to play Tahlia. I was determined this character would be mine, " she said.

She'll be joined by fellow Neighbours cast mate Madeleine West (Dee/Andrea).

"What an incredibly strong ensemble of talented Australian actors," Valance added.

"It's very humbling to know that I will be working with some of our country's best. I worked with Madeleine a little on Neighbours, but I'm really thrilled that we will get to work together more closely this time around. I think we're going to have a lot of fun."

Valance stopped filming Neighbours in December last year, but has since refused to rule out a potential comeback to the show as her character Paige.

Whether her new role in Playing For Keeps changes things remains to be seen.
