Vodafone Warriors back rower Feleti Mateo has today been named in the Australian Prime Minister’s XIII to face Papua New Guinea in Port Moresby on September 23.
Mateo was the only Vodafone Warriors player included in the initial group of players named in the Australian train-on squad last week.
Mateo, born in Australia, is also eligible for Tonga and England through his heritage. He has previously captained Tonga but has declared his availability for New South Wales and Australia.
Two years ago Vodafone Warriors Micheal Luck and James Maloney were selected in the Prime Minister’s XIII against Papua New Guinea.
The team named today includes seven Brisbane players. One of them is New Zealand-born Ben Te’o.
