No, ballot stuffing didn’t give US Democrats a Wisconsin win

Pro-Trump accounts have been claiming that this graph supposedly proves that ballot stuffing took place in the Senate race in Wisconsin. However, this trend represents a normal vote count.

Pro-Trump social media users have been claiming that election fraud marred the Wisconsin senate race that took place at the same time as the presidential election on November 5. As proof, they’ve been sharing a graph of the hour-by-hour vote count the night of November 5 and what looks like a sudden spike in the percentage of Democratic votes. This variation actually has to do with the counting of absentee ballots and votes from cities, which both historically favour Democrats.

"Again?! Not possible," wrote a Trump supporter on social media. Despite their candidate winning the presidential election, a number of pro-Trump accounts have been claiming that election fraud took place in 2024, just as they did back in 2020.

Some of the claims of fraud centre on the Senate race in Wisconsin, which took place alongside the presidential election on November 5. Democratic candidate Tammy Baldwin narrowly beat Republican Senate candidate Eric Hovde. However, on November 11, conspiracist Republican accounts started circulating a graphic of the vote tally. They claim this graph, which has since garnered more than six million views on X, proves fraud took place.
