Deciding what to wear for a first date is already hard enough without your date being actual royalty. So we can only imagine what was going through Meghan Markle's head when she realised she was on a blind date with non other than Prince Harry.
Fresh insight about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's first meeting comes from the new book Finding Freedom, written by veteran royal journalists Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand. The book describes Meghan getting ready for the date in London's Soho and, of course, her outfit sounds incredibly classy.
According to Scobie and Durand, "the evening of her first date with Harry, Meghan was more pre-occupied with what she would wear than his online reputation. She settled on an outfit and then got started on her makeup in her suite at the Soho House's Dean Street Townhouse property."
"From one of the townhouse's thirty-nine bedrooms (many with four-poster beds and Victorian claw-footed tubes), Meghan's home away from home during her London excursion, she settled on a navy-blue sundress and heels for the evening."
The book details how Harry opted for a similarly timeless look, "dressed in his signature white shirt and chinos."
Yep, it seems these two have been a well-dressed duo right from the start. Since then, the navy sundress has become something of a wardrobe staple for Meghan, sporting similar toned-pieces for multiple public engagements with Harry:
BRB - going to buy a navy sundress, stat.
A spokesperson for the Sussexes previously released this statement about the book:
"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not interviewed and did not contribute to Finding Freedom. This book is based on the authors’ own experiences as members of the royal press corps and their own independent reporting."
