The contract sage over Rabbitohs halfback Adam Reynolds appears to have come to an end after reports claim he told his teammates he would be leaving for the Brisbane Broncos.

Reynolds was weighing-up a big money contract from Brisbane on the table, as well as a deal to join Cronulla.

While teammates were hoping the star halfback would remain at the Rabbitohs, The Courier Mail's Pete Badel reported Reynolds had informed them he would be heading to Brisbane.

It's understood Reynolds intends to sign a $2.4 million dollar contract, believed to be a three-year deal, while he is in Brisbane for the NRL's Magic Round this weekend.

He also reportedly consulted his coach Wayne Bennett on a move to his former club.

The Rabbitohs meet the Sharks on Saturday and Reynolds is a chance of playing despite a thumb injury.

Reynolds set to end 10-year Rabbitohs stint

Should Reynolds put pen to paper with the Broncos, it will bring to an end his 10-year NRL career with the Rabbitohs, where he had hoped to remain a one-club player.

The 2014 premiership winner is a beloved club junior who was raised just around the corner from Redfern Oval, South Sydney's spiritual home.

His contract with the club expires at the end of 2021, but the Rabbitohs refused to budge on a one-year extension for their playmaker, who wanted a longer-term deal for more security.

The Rabbitohs would move to replace Reynolds quickly and find a replacement for his halves partner Cody Walker.
