Olivia Wilde’s play makes audience 'scream, faint and vomit'
Olivia Wilde just made her Broadway debut in a production based on George Orwell’s classic novel 1984, and it’s apparently too much for theatre-goers to handle.
It’s still in previews, but The Hollywood Reporter claims that because of the play’s graphic torture scenes audience members have “fainted, thrown up and screamed at the actors from their seat”.
The outlet also reports that an arrest was made during one performance after two theatre-goers “got into a heightened argument”!
And it’s not just audiences who are struggling with the controversial production.
Olivia has already broken her tailbone, dislocated a rib and split her lip during previews, while her co-star Tom Sturridge has broken his nose.
“We’re doing everything necessary to tell the story right, and it’s an intense story," Olivia told The Hollywood Reporter. "We're throwing ourselves into it, and it's worth it."

The torture scenes reportedly get "increasingly queasy" and "bloody", according to the publication.
1984 is set in a dystopian future where society is ruled by a totalitarian regime led by an unseen dictator called Big Brother.
