As Alex Jones gets set to enjoy maternity leave, The One Show has revealed which presenters will be helping to keep her seat warm while she takes a break from presenting.

Following Alex and co-host Matt Baker's last episode together "for quite some time", the BBC has confirmed that Stacey Dooley, Emma Willis, and Mel Giedroyc will be joining regular guest hosts Angellica Bell, Angela Scanlon, and Michelle Acklerey.

Although Alex has confirmed that she'll be back beside Matt in the autumn, her replacements have a full schedule line-up, with Angellica Bell standing in for Alex from Monday, April 29 for two weeks.

Angela, Emma, Mel, Stacey, and Michelle will all do their bit for the One Show relay, with Michelle Ackerley's two-week guest spot rounding things off in mid-August. Other presenters will be announced soon.

Wishing her replacements the best of luck, Alex Jones also reassured fans that the popular show will be "in very capable hands" while she's away.

"I hope they have as much fun as I do on the show. I’ll be back on the sofa in the autumn, but in the meantime, I plan on watching from my own sofa with little Teddy and the newest addition!" she said.

Following the birth of her first son, Teddy, in 2017, Alex Jones opened up about her anxiety while on maternity leave, saying that she went back to work "too quickly".

"To be fair, the BBC were really supportive, they were amazing. They said, 'You have as much time off, and when you're happy to come back then we'll be glad to have you'," Alex said.

"But, you see, I'm just – because I respect and love the job, I worried, if truth be told. I worried that somebody would come in and be better, and to be fair the girls that did it were amazing. I was just insecure, and thought, 'I need to get back as soon as I can'."

The One Show airs on weekdays at 7pm on BBC One.
