Outrage over couple's wedding photographer ad

It’s no secret that tying the knot isn’t cheap.

From the wedding dress to the wedding invitations and all important rings, couples these days can expect to fork out a pretty penny if they’re looking for the day of their dreams.

However one loved-up pair caused quite the stir online when they decided to post an ad to Craigslist looking for a wedding photographer to shoot their day for free.

In fact, some people were so irked by their “unreasonable” request that they decided to repost the listing to Reddit for the whole world to see.

“Weddings are expensive! Duh right? Well, photographers for weddings are equally expensive as well! (duh again!) so here is my proposal,” the post reads.

“For any photographers with enough talent to shoot (product, fashion, macro, landscape, portraits) and any other requisite to wedding photography these days to shoot our wedding in exchange for experience, the photos and the chance to say to your potential next client ‘I’ve shot a wedding before!’.”

The post then goes on to list out the requirements for the job, saying the photographer must have a professional camera, a capable lens, a flash kit, soft box for bridal shoots and other “light manipulative device”.

The photographer should also have business cards because “there will be hundreds of people there that may need your services”.

Of course, the couple say the chosen photographer will have their “eternal gratitude and love” and they will get compensation for gas and they will be fed.

The internet was fuming, with people slamming the couple for having the audacity to post such an ad.

“I like how they have enough self-awareness to know that people are going to be pissed off by something like this, but not enough to realize that it's a stupid and unreasonable thing to be asking for,” one person said.

“I'd like to attend that wedding with a paintball gun,” they continued.

“My wife is a wedding photographer. This is...frankly repulsive. They know enough of the subject and still expect this to work, and the best part is they want three people. I'd get if they had the attitude like "you just point and shoot right?" But they are wanting people with $3000 plus dollars of equipment and the actual talent for photography to just leap at what will likely be an entire day of unpaid work,” another person said.

“Oh man as a former wedding photographer this makes me shake my head. Who needs 3 people for photos and why specify a full frame CCD camera? Are you making 10ft prints? Expect people to invest in thousands of dollars of equipment and only pay for food and gas?,” another person said.
