Parents Aren't Happy With Justin Timberlake Saying 24-Hour Parenting Is "Just Not Human"

Justin Timberlake is used to topping the charts with his slickly produced tracks, but his latest statement is more tone-deaf than Top 40, according to many parents. People reports that during an appearance on SiriusXM’s Hits 1, Timberlake said that he was in social isolation and parenting during the pandemic, just like many people, but his flippant statement about how he wasn't prepped to be a parent 24 hours a day didn't sit well with some parents on Twitter, who were wondering what the crooner expected from his duties as a dad.

"We're doing good. We're mostly commiserating over the fact that we … just, 24-hour parenting is just not human,” Timberlake said on the show. He went on to say that the feeling goes both ways, with his son needing "just a commercial break" once in a while, too.

Timberlake went on to say that social distancing comes with the territory where he, his wife Jessica Biel, and their son, Silas, are staying in Montana. “We’re in a place where they’re pretty socially distant here anyway, where our place is, and so just being able to walk out into your driveway and maybe go for a little hike is always nice,” he says, adding that he and his family are “very lucky and blessed" to have the luxury of being isolated where they are.

Whether or not he acknowledged his own specific circumstances being "blessed," the reactions to his statement weren't warm. Critics called Timberlake out, noting that many parents out there are single parents, have lost their jobs, and don't have the luxury of escaping to a compound in Montana.
