'Part of our culture': Warriors praised for 'awesome' Thaiday tribute

The Warriors are quickly building a reputation for themselves as one of the nicest sides in the NRL, after paying special tributes to retiring champions Johnathan Thurston and Sam Thaiday in recent weeks.

Both NRL legends were invited into on-field ceremonies from Warriors players at the conclusion of NRL games, where they were thanked for their contributions to the game.

Star five-eighth Blake Green explained sharing a tribute to retiring players is something his side feels is important to do.

“We did the same thing with (Johnathan Thurston) a couple of weeks ago,” Green told NRL 360.

“We think it’s important the people that have been a big part of the game and achieved everything, it’s important for our group to show some respect for them.

“I guess it’s something that is a part of our culture now, something we want to be remembered for as a playing group.

“We just told Sam this may be the last time we share a field with you so all the best in the future.”
