Partial evacuation of civilians underway in Sumy Oblast

Regional authorities have ordered evacuations of residents in Bilopillia and Vorozhba communities in Sumy Oblast, based on a decree signed by regional governor Volodymyr Artyukh on May 13.

The document was published on Artyukh’s official website.

“We must protect our population, this is our primary task set by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy,” the governor said.

“This evacuation is not compulsory; it is a precautionary, voluntary measure from localities where the number of shelling incidents has significantly increased.”

Authorities report that residents of Bilopillia and Vorozhba, particularly families with children who wish to evacuate, should contact their village heads and community leaders.

The evacuees will be provided with temporary housing in Sumy Oblast.
