Parts of Juan de Fuca Provincial Park closed due to damage from flooding, wind
The province is asking visitors to check the B.C. Parks website before visiting Juan de Fuca Provincial Park on Vancouver Island, as some areas have been closed off.
In a news release issued Friday, the Ministry of Environment said recent stormy weather has caused "significant" damage to some areas throughout the park.
Heavy rains and wind recently battered much of B.C.'s South Coast, causing flooding on roads and leaving thousands without power.
Those planning a visit to the park can check online to find out if the area they'd like to visit has been affected.
As of Friday afternoon, closures include the Juan de Fuca trail and backcountry campsites, Sombrio Beach suspension bridge and Parkinson Trailhead.
It is unclear when these areas may reopen.
The province notes, however, that China and Second Beach remain open for day use, and East Sombrio Beach, Botany Bay and Botanical Beach are still accessible at this time.
