Patrick Dempsey is supporting the medical staff in his hometown of Lewiston, Maine.
On Friday, the actor, who was crowned PEOPLE’s 2023 Sexiest Man Alive, shared a series of photos on Instagram of him alongside first responders who've taken part in helping victims from Maine's mass shooting on Oct. 26.
In the first photo of the carousal, Dempsey is smiling as he wraps his arms around workers from Central Maine Healthcare. In the second photo, he poses next to a group of students from Tree Street Youth – a program that supports the youth of the area through arts, academics and athletics.
"I was able to spend time with first responders, mental health professionals, medical professionals and other local organizations. All of whom are dedicated to healing and bringing together my hometown community of Lewiston," Dempsey, 57, captioned the post.
He continued, "The road to recovery is long, but I am thankful for all helping those affected by this recent tragedy."
Following the shooting in October that claimed the lives of 18 people and injured another 13, the Grey’s Anatomy alum also posted a statement to his Instagram expressing his sorrow over the events in his hometown.
