Pensioner who died after being hit by lorry in Blantyre named

A pensioner who died after being hit by a lorry in South Lanarkshire in December has been named by police.

Robert Shira-Gibb, 84, was struck by a white Isuzu Grafter flatbed truck on Glasgow Road, Blantyre, at about 17:55 on Tuesday 19 December.

Mr Shira-Gibb, who is from Blantyre, died in hospital the following day.

The 53-year-old driver of the lorry was arrested in connection with a road traffic offence and released pending further inquiries.

Sgt Chris McColm appealed for anyone with information to contact police.
