Pete Evans slammed for 'disgraceful' Trump post amid US protests
Chef Pete Evans has landed himself in hot water, but this time it’s not medical theories or bone broth, but rather politics that has fans seeing red.
The controversial chef was axed from My Kitchen Rules this year, following a $25,200 fine from the Therapeutic Goods Administration over the claim that a $15,000 lamp was a potential coronavirus treatment online.
He still boasts a loyal following on both Instagram and Facebook, where he has more than one million likes on his page, but his standing with some seems to have seriously soured after he shared a series of flammable posts on Tuesday.
The chef shared a video of President Donald Trump declaring his intention to quash the Black Lives Matter protests and riots with ‘all federal resources, both civilian and military’.
The chef captioned the video with a love heart emoji, seeming to endorse the president’s response which has angered many. He gave no further indication of his view on the situation, simply stating he was ’sharing information that may not be seen on normal channels’.
Trump’s speech was broadcast by mainstream media, and has been made widely available online.
‘No respect left’: Fans slams Pete’s Trump post
The post has prompted a wave of backlash from fans who questioned the chef’s sudden endorsement of Trump amid the volatile situation in the US.
“I have no respect left for you Pete,” one woman wrote. “How can you agree with him when black people don’t have the same right?”
“I disagree strongly with your support of Trump,” another wrote. “As such I am unfollowing”.
“I’m so confused,” another shared. “What is to love about this?”
“I’ve looked up to with your consistent messaging of peace and love,” one wrote. “So, the fact that you’re endorsing this man and/or his fight fire with fire proposal is truly appalling.”
“I followed Pete because I agree with him on the nutrition/vaccine etc... [But] I don’t know how Trump is in the good guys gang?”
“This is a disgrace,” another wrote.
To many of the angry followers, the chef simply responded with a love heart emoji once again.
Comments on the post have since been disabled.
He has since gone on to claim the riots are part of a media conspiracy to distract from the coronavirus conspiracy he has been sharing.
“It is no accident that videos of police brutality have suddenly gone viral,” he wrote, claiming riots were instigated by organisations affiliated with the elite.
Videos of police brutality have been circling social media for years, the most recent just the final straw for many US citizen’s tired of the violence.

The US protests initially broke out after footage of George Floyd being suffocated to death by a police officer who knelt on his neck for eight minutes began circulating online.
The officer in question, Derek Chauvin, has since been charged with third-degree murder.
