Brazil, Portugal and Switzerland emerged victorious in their World Cup openers while Uruguay and South Korea battled to a stalemate. While Cristiano Ronaldo enters the record book, Neymar appears to have been bitten by another injury bug.

The penalty kick broke the deadlock and ensured Portugal emerged victorious against Ghana 3-2 in their Group H match.
Ronaldo has now scored in every World Cup since scoring his first in 2006. Days earlier, his contract with Manchester United was terminated after he criticised the manager, owners and his teammates at the English club in an authorised interview.
Ronaldo's scoring record in international play now stands at 118 goals after the penalty.
