Quebec provincial police have arrested five people in connection with a fatal house fire in a Sept-Îles home on Wednesday.

The fire killed one person, according to police. The body was found in the home after the fire and has not yet been identified, according to a police spokesperson.

Investigators believe the fire may have been criminally set, but it is too early to know if the events are tied to organized crime.

The police spokesperson said someone called 911 around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, reporting the fire, which was burning in the Moisie area of the community in Quebec's Côte-Nord region.

Officers swarmed the scene even as firefighters battled the fire into the early afternoon.

Police say they aren't searching for anyone else suspected to be linked with the fire and say there is no risk to public safety at the moment.

The five people are set to appear in court Thursday to face arson charges.
