Popular baby toy recalled over choking hazard

Parents beware: a popular toy aimed at young children has been recalled after reports of parts breaking and potentially becoming a choking hazard.

Product Safety Australia have issued a warning over the BRIO AB – Soft Hammer Rattle, a toy made of wood and plastic, and sold nationally between January 2015 and July 2017.

“The wooden rings on the rattle can crack and could possibly result in small parts that could be hazardous to small children,” information from Product Safety Australia revealed.

“Small parts if detached from the product pose a potential choking hazard to children under the age of 36 months.”

The toy has also been recalled in Europe and Canada, with the company receiving seven reports of the wooden rings cracking in Europe.

While there were no injuries, a recall has been issued, with consumers ordered to stop using the toy immediately and return it to their local BRIO retailer for a refund or replacement.
