Powerball winner found four days after $50 million win

Australia's latest multi-millionaire has finally come forward, four days after their Powerball ticket scooped an impressive $50 million.

The Lott confirmed on Monday morning a NSW resident from the Mid North Coast had claimed their prize.

"The winning player confessed they were still struggling to come to terms with their newfound fortune," The Lott said.

However the winner has decided to forgo the customary post-win interview, instead deciding to remain "completely anonymous".

The winning entry was purchased at Tull’s Newsagency in Forster.

“This is fantastic. It’s the biggest win we’ve ever had and it’s great because it’s been a while between wins,” manager Vanessa Deland said.

“There’s been a real buzz around the store and throughout the town since it was announced and it’s fantastic to see."

The winning numbers from Thursday's draw were 14, 6, 9, 25, 27, 31 and 33, with Powerball number 15. Twenty-six division two winners will split more than $811,000 between them, each taking home $31,222.55.

It comes just weeks after three winning tickets shared a record $160 million Powerball jackpot.

Powerball winners and their abnormal reactions

The winner's approach to their win adds them to a list of abnormal responses to a major jackpot.

Earlier this year The Lott spokesman Matt Hart sat down with Yahoo News Australia and went through the weird and wonderful reactions he's had when breaking life-changing news.

"Perhaps the strangest (reaction I've had), there was a gentleman earlier this year we told him he'd won Division One, and he did admit he threw up a little bit," he recalled.

Another male winner also proposed to Mr Hart on learning of his win.

Mr Hart also revealed winners often opt for a surprising household item as their first major purchase, with fast cars and a new house often taking a back seat to the appliance.
