Prince Charles pays Camilla’s decorator sister millions
It’s no surprise Prince Charles is friendly with Annabel Elliot after years of being married to her sister Camilla, but new reports reveal just how close the pair have become with the Duke throwing some serious coin Annabel’s way.
According to the Duchy of Cornwall’s accounts, which are used to fund Prince Charles' activities, Annabel’s interior design firm has been commissioned to refurbish a 20-bedroom pub in Poundbury.
With Annabel’s company more than doubling in value from nearly $300,000 to $715,000 just last year, official reports reveal her company was paid for numerous other projects as well.
“The Duch paid Mrs Annabel Elliot, the Duke of Cornwall's sister-in-law, in the normal course of business and on an arm's-length basis £24,045 [AU $41,260] for fees and commission, and £27,752 [AU$47,621] for the purchase of furniture, furnishings and retail stock for the Duchy of Cornwall holiday accommodation, Duchy office at Restormel and Penlyne Nursery.”
The Daily Mail reports the Duchy of Cornwall has dished out nearly $2.6 million to Annabel’s company since Charles and Camilla tied the knot in 2005.
Annabel has played a pivotal part on her sister’s romance with the royal.
Reports claim it was at Annabel’s 40th birthday party in 1989 that Princess Diana confronted Camilla about her relationship with her then-husband Charles.
A decade later, it was at Annabel’s 50th that Camilla and Charles finally went public with their relationship by posing for photographers at the Ritz Hotel.
With Annabel no doubt privy to some of Camilla and Charles' intimate moments, it has some speculating she has been "richly rewarded" for her silence...
