Prince Charles had 'very emotional' meeting with Lilibet and Archie

Prince Charles reportedly had a "very emotional" meeting with his grandchildren Lilibet, one, and Archie, three, when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle returned to the UK for the Platinum Jubilee.

Charles and his wife Camilla were said to have been "absolutely thrilled" to spend time with the Sussexes during their short stay in the UK last month.

Harry and Meghan kept a low profile, but did manage to celebrate Lilibet's first birthday during their time in London by throwing a part at Frogmore Cottage.

According to The Sun, a senior royal source revealed it had been "wonderful" having Harry and Meghan and their young children back in the country.

"The prince and the duchess were absolutely thrilled to see them," they said.

"The prince, of course, hasn't seen his grandson Archie for a bit of time and so it was very, very, very special to have some time with him.

"He hadn't met Lili, his granddaughter, and so to meet her was very emotional, a very, very wonderful thing."

Charles is also believed to have told Harry and Meghan they are welcome to stay with him anytime they want to when they come back to the UK.

Lilibet also met her namesake, the Queen, for the first time during the trip.

It's believed that Harry and Meghan wanted to have the moment photographed, but Her Majesty turned them down in case the images should end up in the media.

Harry has previously spoken about his relationship with Charles, telling Oprah Winfrey last year that his father had stopped taking his calls and had cut him off financially.

When asked about his relationship with his father, Harry hesitated before saying there was a lot to work through.

"I feel really let down because he has been through something similar," he said.

"He knows what pain feels like and Archie is his grandson ... but I will always love him."

He added one of his priorities was to try and heal the relationship with his father.

When asked about his relationship with his brother Prince William, he said "I love him to bits".

"He's my brother, we've been through hell together," he said.

"And we have a shared experience. But we, you know, we have different paths."
