Kate Middleton and Prince William to break royal rule for George

Last month, the world watched, captivated, as Prince George arrived for his first day of school at Thomas’s Battersea. But there’s already talk about what secondary school the four-year-old will attend.

As an unofficial royal rule, senior members of the royal family have attended boarding schools with peers of the same sex, but rumour has it that the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William might break from royal tradition when it comes to Prince George and allow him to attend a co-ed school instead of single sex.

“The word on the street is that his parents want co-education and boarding when he leaves prep school,” a source told The Sunday Times.

The publication also noted that Brighton College could be a strong contender, as it has been a popular choice of senior education for those leaving Thomas’s Battersea in recent years.

So instead of following in dad William and uncle Harry’s footsteps by attending Eton College independent boarding school for boys — George just might break an (unwritten) royal by attending a mixed-sex boarding school.

This isn't the first time Kate and Wills have sidestepped royal protocol for the sake of their kids.

During their royal visit to Poland in July, the family actually broke a travel code set by the royal family, which states direct heirs to the throne are forbidden from taking the same plane.

This was reportedly set in place to protect the throne in case there was an accident during the flight.

When the much-loved family flew to Australia in 2013, royal fans were wondering if they would take separate planes, so Prince George would be on a different flight to his father, Prince William.

However when they touched down on Aussie soil, Prince William and Prince George stepped off the plane together – clearly not giving the royal rule a second thought.

Since then they’ve made it a point to always travel as a family, with their recent tour of Germany and Poland seeing Kate, Wills and the kids travelling on the same plane together.
