Prince George was left upset after watching this TV programme

From Cosmopolitan

Prince George, at the age of just seven, is shaping up to be a cheeky, inquisitive and sensitive soul. Now, his father, Prince William, has revealed that his eldest son was so moved by a certain TV programme that they watched together, they had to switch the show off. Poor, George!

The viewing in question? A Sir David Attenborough documentary called Extinction: The Facts, that breaks down the cold hard fact that almost a million species are currently at risk of extinction. "Having watched so many David Attenborough documentaries recently with my children, they absolutely love them, but the most recent one, the extinction one, actually George and I had to turn it off," Prince William said during an interview.

"We got so sad about it halfway through," The Duke continued. "He actually said to me, he said, 'I don't want to watch this anymore, why has it come to this?'. He's seven years old and he's asking me this questions already. He really feels it."

William added that he doesn't believe George is the only child feeling concerned and upset about the state of the planet today. "I think every seven year old out there can relate to that. From an emotional point of view, every parent wants to do their best for their children... We have to have a decade of change, of repairing the planet so that we can hand it on to the next generation."

Talking about environmental issues, such as global warming and protecting endangered animals, is clearly a passion for both William and George, the former of whom recently starred in his own documentary on the subject, Prince William: A Planet For Us All. During the ITV hourlong special, the future king was seen going about his work over the course of two years, meeting with various experts and members of the public who are working hard to create positive changes within their local communities.

As part of promotion for the episode, David Attenborough himself also got involved by chatting to Prince George and his two siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, in a cute clip shared on Instagram (royal fans were especially excited as it features Louis' speaking voice on camera for the first time).

If you've not yet checked out Prince William's show, it's available now on ITV Player and is well worth a watch!
