Prince Harry Opens Up About His Son Archie And Becoming A Father

Prince Harry has opened up about how becoming a father to his son Archie has motivated his work to help safeguard the planet.

Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have been very vocal about their chosen charitable initiatives since there marriage in 2018 .

This year alone has seen the pair have lent their voice and notable influence to the Terence Higgins Trust, supporting the Black Lives Matter movement and also announced their new charitable foundation Archewell, named in honour of their son.

During an online video call with Ellen Windemuth, the chief executive officer of charity WaterBear and its head of strategy Sam Sutaria, the Duke was asked if he has always held an interested in the environment and the natural world.

'I think I’ve always been that way,' replied Prince Harry. 'But the moment you become a father, everything really does change because then you start to realise – well, what is the point in bringing a new person into this world if when they get to your age and it’s on fire'.

In further reflections on fatherhood and his role in planet conservation Prince Harry stated: 'We can’t steal their future, we really can’t – that’s not the role, that’s not the job we’re here for.'

Speaking in his role as President of conservation for the NGO, African Parks, he added: ' I think we really need to take a moment and think how do we get what we need and have our desire fulfilled, without taking from our children and generations to come’.

Alongside his conservation work, Prince Harry has also been praised for his continued work with HIV and Aids Charities. Earlier this year, the royal delivered a virtual address during the Opening Ceremony of the AIDS 2020 Conference and marked World Aids Day (1 Dec) by sending a message of support to UK AIDS charity -Terence Higgins Trust.

Prince Harry's work in this area has been praised and likened to the work of his late mother, Princess Diana who worked tirelessly tackling the stigma around HIV and highlighted the importance of testing
