Prince William has made a surprise appearance at the Fire Fight bushfire relief concert, sharing a heartfelt message to Australians affected by the recent bushfire crisis.

Speaking to the thousands in the crowd in a video message, the Duke of Cambridge commended the bravery of firefighters and those helping rebuild on behalf of him and his wife Kate Middleton.

“Hello, everyone. Catherine and I just wanted to say that we were very shocked and saddened to see the damage and devastation caused by the bushfires recently,” Prince William said in the video.

“We know it’s been a terrible time for all of those affected by the bushfires,” he continued

“We want to commend the bravery and resilience of all Australians involved, particularly the volunteer firefighters who have put their lives on the line to protect lives, livelihoods and wildlife. We think that’s been a fantastic effort all ‘round by everyone down there looking after each other.

“We know there’s been lots of incredible acts of generosity as well and communities coming together to support each other.

“We wish you all the best for the rebuild and have a good evening.”

Thousands of people have poured into Sydney's ANZ stadium to show support for the state's firefighters and all those impacted by the summer's bushfire crisis.

More than 70,000 people attended the Fire Fight Australia concert on Sunday, which according to organisers sold-out within 24-hours of tickets going on sale.

Prince William and Kate Middleton are reportedly coming to Australia, with the couple expected to visit bushfire ravaged towns.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are currently in talks with Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s office to negotiate the finer details of the trip.

The couple are expected to visit town in NSW and Victoria, however according to the publication, South Australia may be added to their schedule as well.

On January 3rd, the royal pair reached out in a sweet gesture to the Australian public, Tweeting a message of support to those who have been affected by the bushfires.

Alongside an image of a kangaroo escaping from a blaze engulfing a property, they wrote: “We continue to be shocked and deeply saddened to hear about the fires that are destroying homes, livelihoods and wildlife across much of Australia.

”Our thoughts and prayers are with all the people and communities who are affected by this devastating event.

”We send our deepest condolences to the families and friends of those who have tragically lost their lives, and the brave firefighters who continue to risk their own lives to save the lives of others.”
