Will and Kate's shock move amid 'Megxit' drama

Prince William and Kate Middleton won’t be attending any of the events during Prince Harry’s Invictus Games this year, in a move that’s sure to shock royal fans.

The surprising news comes just days after the finer details of the ‘Megxit’ deal were hashed out, with the Sussexes announcing their new arrangements on their website.

However, one royal source claims that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s absence at the Invictus Games in The Hague in May shouldn’t be seen as a snub.

"William had not been expected to attend even before the news broke about Harry and Meghan's decision to step away from public life," a royal source told The Sun.

"It isn't a snub. The entire Royal Family remain hugely supportive and very proud of Harry's work on Invictus and think it is a wonderful event."

Harry and Meghan’s ‘Megxit’ plans announced

On Saturday, it was confirmed the new arrangement for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will take effect from March 31st 2020, just after the couple make their last appearance as working members of the royal family.

most notably including the axing of the ‘Sussex Royal’ title and a fresh wave of redundancies as the pair are forced to close their UK offices.

The full list of terms was posted to the Sussexes website - renamed ‘The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’ as opposed to the former ‘Sussex Royal’ - on Saturday morning.

It confirmed that while they will still be known as HRH, the duo will not use their ‘Sussex Royal’ brand name or HRH in public in any capacity going forward, confirming rumours which swirled for weeks.

Explained in detail on the website, the pair confirmed the brand name would be axed, “as The Duke and Duchess will no longer be considered full-time working Members of The Royal Family.”

The pair have been forced to retract their copyright application for the name, explaining that as they establish their not-for-profit organisation the use of the ‘Royal’ title would violate UK government rules around use of the word.

The decisions are part of a 12-month review the pair are required to undergo, while the royal family determine the practicality of the arrangement.

Royal fans were left stunned in January when the royal couple, who married in May 2018, decided to quit the royal family and move to Canada, making the shocking announcement without the full blessing of the Queen.

In further drastic cuts, the UK offices of the Sussexes will be closed down leaving the royal staffers who formerly worked for Harry and Meghan out of a job.
