Although Prince William, Kate Middleton and their three adorable children (Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis) opted to stay in their Norfolk residence, Amner Hall, throughout lockdown, that's not the only place the family call home. They also have a very deceptively named house in Kensington Palace called Apartment 1A.

Despite it's tiny-sounding name, it's actually a 20-room set-up, spread out across four storeys and comes complete with a whole host of other incredible features, according to royal experts. The decadent home once belonged to Princess Margaret, William's great-aunt and The Queen's only sister, and was renovated by the couple before they moved in.

Speaking on True Royalty’s Royal Beat, British royal author Christopher Warwick explained: 'It has 20 rooms from the basement to the attic, it's not a small house. All of these royal residences at Kensington Palace are called apartments, which of course makes people immediately think they are flats like the American term for apartment, they're not.'

Warwick added: 'If you think of Kensington Palace, in a way it is built around three courtyards. If you think of them as being these wonderful red brick terrace houses, because they are all joined, but separate houses.'

As for those aforementioned incredible features, it's reported that Apartment 1A boasts at least three 'main' bedrooms, five reception rooms, multiple bathrooms, a nursery, twinned dressing rooms (his and hers) and of course, a home gym, laundry area and *most exciting of all* a luggage room.

Now, I don't know about you but it's that last area of the home that really has me turning green with envy. A luggage room! Given that suitcases are notoriously the most annoying items to store away (they're typically either shoved under beds or hoisted up into a loft, only to then be precariously retrieved the night before a week in Benidorm), imagine having an entire room just for your battered old wheel-along? Revolutionary.

To save you some Googling after you finish reading this, here's a lovely shot of the exterior of Kensington Palace taken when William and Kate's renovations were underway a few years back:

Excuse me, must dash... I need to see a man about a luggage room.
