In case you haven't been on the internet er....all weekend...BIG NEWS: Princess Beatrice secretly got married to her fiancé Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi on Friday in a beautiful, pink, private ceremony.

While the happy couple had planned to wed in May, Coronavirus health and safety measures went into effect nationwide, and so they had to postpone their wedding like so many other couples.

Instagram is already brimming with photos of the Princess's beautiful wedding dress (it's on loan from the Queen - talk about an epic 'something borrowed.') Rather than opting for a custom designer gown, as was tradition with Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle, and Princess Eugenie, Beatrice shook things up a bit by opting for a vintage Norman Hartnell gown previously worn by the Queen in the 1960s. Sustainable and sentimental wedding fashion? We're here for it.

But her dress wasn't the only break from tradition in her wedding plans: her beautiful ring was a slightly unexpected choice, too. Both her engagement band and her wedding ring were designed by British jeweller Shaun Leane after a consultation in his Mayfair atelier. The breathtaking ring of dreams incorporates both Victorian and Art Deco styling, and is constructed from platinum and diamonds.

Here's why that's a little different: most royal brides over the last century have chosen gold wedding bands. In fact, the Queen's own wedding band came from a nugget of pure Welsh gold from the Clogau mine. Princess Diana, Princess Margaret, Princess Anne, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall also used gold in their bands. So platinum is a bit of a break from tradition.

Fashion-loving Princess Beatrice will have no doubt been impressed that the jeweller has previously collaborated with Alexander McQueen and Givenchy, and that he has pieces on exhibition at the V&A Museum.

On Instagram, the designer shared a special message for the newlyweds: "I am thrilled for the happy couple, it warms my heart to see two wonderful people unite in love as much as Edoardo and Beatrice do. I feel very honoured to have been a part of their journey and to have been involved in the very special moments of designing and creating the engagement ring and wedding ring. I wish them a lifetime of love and happiness together."

Awww - big congratulations to these two!
