It's been a little over a week now since the happy news broke that Princess Eugenie safely delivered her first child – a son. It was announced by both her personally with an adorable Instagram post and via a more formal statement through the official royal family channels. Since then, royal enthusiasts have been eagerly awaiting a further announcement confirming the child's name, but as yet, Eugiene and her husband, Jack Brooksbank have kept it under wraps.

While it's also possible that the new parents are still trying to settle on the right moniker for their little one (who, like Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's son Archie, will not be given an official royal title), many are speculating that they'll at least have firmed up a middle name already.

As reported by the Daily Mail's Emily Andrews, it's likely that Jack and Eugenie will be bestowing a rather unique middle name on their son: Stamp, in honour of Jack's great-great-great-great-grandfather, Stamp Brooksbank (who back in the 18th century was a governor of the Bank of England – fancy!). It's a rather sweet family tradition too, as it's also one of Jack's middle names (his full name is Jack Christopher Stamp Brooksbank).

When announcing the news, the royal family's official Instagram account (@royalfamily) shared a picture of Jack and Eugenie on their wedding day, along with the statement: "Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie was safely delivered of a son today, 9th February 2021, at 0855hrs at The Portland Hospital. Jack Brooksbank was present. The baby weighs 8lbs 1oz.

"The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Duke of York, Sarah, Duchess of York, and Mr and Mrs George Brooksbank have been informed and are delighted with the news. This is Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s first child, The Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York’s first grandchild, and the ninth great-grandchild for The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well."

Elsewhere in exciting royal baby news land (not *100% sure* that that's a real place, but hear me out), Prince Harry (Eugenie's cousin) and Meghan Markle announced that they're expecting a second child later on in the year. They shared the news on Valentine's Day, alongside an intimate photograph of themselves relaxing in their back garden.

We'll be keeping our eyes peeled for an update from Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank regarding the full name. 👀
