A look back at Queen Elizabeth’s visits to Singapore in 1989, 2006

SINGAPORE — The death of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday (8 September) has prompted mourning and tributes from people in the UK and around the world.

On Friday, the Prime Minister's Office announced that state flags at all government buildings in Singapore will be flown at half-mast on the day of the Queen's funeral as a mark of respect. Parliament will observe one minute of silence at the beginning of its sitting on Monday.

The Queen visited Singapore in 1972, 1989 and 2006, when she attended events ranging from state banquets hosted by Singapore’s leaders, to meeting with students at Townsville Primary School and residents living in Toa Payoh.

Here are some of the highlights of her visits in 1989 and 2006:

1989
