Rail lines near N.W.T.-Alberta border suffered 'significant damage' from wildfire, CN Rail says
Rail service has been disrupted after lines near the N.W.T.-Alberta border were damaged by a nearby wildfire, CN Rail said Wednesday.
In a statement, CN Rail said they're continuing to assess the damage.
"Initial reports indicate the damage is significant," the rail company stated.
The wildfire in question forced the closure of Highway 1 out of the N.W.T. overnight on Monday
There is no timeline for when the lines will be fixed, but it's expected to be down for several weeks.
Repairs are starting right away, and will continue "as long as conditions remain safe to do so," the statement said.
"CN is actively engaged with customers to help protect supply chains and ensure goods continue to flow to communities," it stated.
