Rebel Wilson takes aim at royal family while posing with Prince Harry

A-lister Rebel Wilson has taken a subtle dig at the royal family during a surprise encounter with Prince Harry.

The Senior Year star posted a photo on Instagram with the Duke of Sussex with the caption: "Team Harry".

The caption appeared to allude to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's rift with the royals following their decision to step back as senior members of the royal family and an explosive tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The encounter at the Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet Club comes after Rebel poked fun at Meghan and Harry ahead of her BAFTAs hosting gig in the UK in March.

The Australian comedian took a swipe at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s move to the US while chatting with This Morning host Alison Hammond about some of this year’s nominees.

After a clip played from the film West Side Story, where they sing the song America featuring the lyrics “I like to be in America, okay by me in America”, Rebel joked that it bore similarities to the royal couple’s experience.

“That’s Harry and Meghan's new theme song!” she remarked, leaving Alison in stitches.

She also took a jab at them again when hosting the awards, saying: "From drama to horror, to fantasy... Harry and Meghan's interview with Oprah had it all."

In 2020, Rebel also ripped into the royal family at the BAFTAs, where she opened up her presentation for the award for Best Director by saying: “It’s really great to be here at the Royal Andrew, Royal Harry, Royal Philip, Royal palace place.”

Fans who spotted Rebel's photo with Prince Harry were delighted by the pair's encounter.

"So much royalty in one pic," one said.

"Great team," another commented.

"So freaking cool," a third added.
