Rebel Wilson sends fans wild with throwback Harry Styles photo: 'Two icons’

Rebel Wilson has sent her fans wild on social media after she shared a throwback photo of herself standing next to Harry Styles on Instagram

The snap, which was taken backstage at The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2015, features Harry in a leopard print shirt while Rebel wears a black One Direction jumper with a large image of the band on the front.

“Yes. We’ve both grown into our looks (and careers). Love you @harrystyles and can’t wait to see all your new movies,” she captioned the post.

Rebel’s followers quickly took to the comments to applaud the duo, with one person writing: “Two icons in the same photo.”

“Both beautiful then and now,” another added, while a third said, “Queen supporting king”.

“Love that you’re a Harry stan,” another fan wrote.

‘He really enjoyed it’

Rebel first shared the photo on social media in 2015 alongside an eyebrow-raising caption hinting that she and the iconic musician locked lips during their TV appearance.

“Check us on ELLEN tomorrow… Does this mean T Swift & I are now officially ‘spit sisters’,” she wrote, referencing Harry’s brief romance with Taylor Swift in 2012.

Rebel had gatecrashed One Direction’s interview on the talk show to proclaim that she was the band’s biggest fan, before straddling Harry on the couch.

A few months after the sketch, the Pitch Perfect actress returned to The Ellen DeGeneres Show and revealed that Harry’s fans had accused her of sexually assaulting the star and sent her death threats.

“These little girls, I think they're about 12, were very, very unhappy with that,” she said as she laughed off the incident.

“Basically, we’re just two professional entertainers having a good time, and he really enjoyed it. And I told them that on Twitter and then they just sent me more death threats.”

Rebel’s emotional tribute

Rebel’s post comes just a few days after she penned an emotional tribute to Olivia Newton-John, who played her mother in the 2011 film A Few Best Men, and revealed the key advice that she received from the Grease star.

“You tried to teach me about health years before I took it seriously. You were so kind to me and it was such a blessing to know you Olivia,” she wrote on Instagram.

Rebel recently shed a massive 35kg in 2020 by prioritising exercise after declaring it was her ‘year of health’.

The 42-year-old went on to share how Olivia had a huge impact on her career path, and said it was “beyond an honour” getting to work together.

“Seeing you star in the huge Hollywood blockbuster Grease with your natural accent was so instrumental to me as a little girl, helping me to believe that it was possible for an Aussie girl to star in huge international musicals,” Rebel continued.

“You were so kind to me and it was such a blessing to know you Olivia. I’ll never forget us singing at the piano in our lunch break on set together - what a complete legend you are! I am so sad you are gone. Love and Light always to you ONJ.”
