It’s one of the most memorable films from her early Hollywood career, but Denise Richards doesn’t want her children to see her lesbian love scenes in 1998 erotic thriller, Wild Things.

The now 48-year-old star of The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills star says her young daughters, all under the age of 16, have come across the footage, but she’s forbidden them from viewing it as it’s ‘not age appropriate’.

“I definitely did not give them a copy,” she tells Yahoo Lifestyle Australia. “I told them, ‘I don’t want you guys watching this’, because one of my daughters brought it up to me and I was shocked.

“A couple of friends had told her about it and I just said to her, ‘I would appreciate if you didn’t watch it’. It’s not age appropriate and it was a movie I did, it was a script I loved, it’s me being creative. I worked with amazing actors and one day if you do see it, you may not agree with my decision but that’s what mum decided to do’.”

The said scene shows a then twenty-something Denise passionately locking lips with female co-star Neve Campbell as they undressed each other in a swimming pool.

“My girls are starting to get older,” reveals Denise. “They have friends saying, ‘I saw this picture of your mum.’

“It’s weird for them, to see their mum in something that’s sexy or different. I think it would be very rude for me if it were my parents,” she admits.

There’s also a balance Charlie Sheen’s ex needs to strike when filming The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills, as her daughters also appear in some episodes that show a real insight into the movie star’s family and home life.

“At the time [of filming], I said to them, ‘No pressure’,” explains Denise.

“If they want to be part of it, they can. If they don’t, they don’t have to. I would never want them to do anything they don’t want to do.

“They’re on the show a little bit and there are moments their friends are there too, but their friends’ parents watch it and their friends do. I was surprised that their friends see it because they’re younger and it’s kind of an adult show,” she says.

“Then I look back at the stuff I’ve filmed and I’m not the most appropriate at times where I’d want my kids to see or hear things so I have some challenging times coming up, trying to explain some things about that.”

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 9 streams on both hayu and Foxtel, same day as the U.S. New episodes every Wednesday.
