Riverdale's Vanessa Morgan's husband files for divorce days after pregnancy announcement
Riverdale star Vanessa Morgan, 28, and her baseball husband Michael Kopech, 24, are parting ways after six months of marriage – just days after the actress announced she was expecting a baby boy.
According to the Chicago Tribune, the White Sox pitcher filed for the divorce in Texas on June 19.
A representative for Vanessa confirmed to People Magazine that Michael is the father of the baby, but wouldn't speak about the divorce filing.
On Friday, the actress shared photos to Instagram from a party with close friends and family where she revealed she was having a baby boy. Michael did not appear in any of the photos.
In the photos, she revealed she found out she was expecting on May 20, less than a month after Michael reportedly filed for divorce.
In her caption she made no reference to Michael, saying, "Exciting news... I am overjoyed to be welcoming my baby boy into the world this January."
She continued, "This little guy has already brought me so much happiness and a feeling of such a greater purpose. I cannot wait to meet you!
"On a personal note, I have had the blessing of growing up in the public eye having started my acting career at age 6. While this has been incredible for me, I am very much looking forward to giving this little guy some room to grow up outside of the public eye, until he tells me otherwise."
Vanessa added that he was "made with so much love" and exudes "a light so strong".
"Thank you God for this blessing... I’m just so happy & can’t wait to dedicate everyday to being the best mommy I can be."
Vanessa's last post with Michael was for his 24th birthday in May. She shared a photo of the pair hugging and wrote, "Happy Quarantine Birthday Boo."
