Rob Delaney has revealed how he was left with black hair for months after his Rocketman cameo as Elvis Presley was cut.

The comedian revealed last October that he had a role in the Elton John biopic. However, he does not appear in the final cut of the film.

To play Presley, Delaney opted to dye his brown hair black.

And, speaking to BBC Radio 6 Music on Sunday (June 16), the Catostrophe star revealed he was left with black hair for six months after shooting, as the hair artists accidentally used permanent dye instead of a temporary one.

"I did shoot a couple of scenes in the film as a guy named Elvis Presley, who you may have heard of, and they even dyed my hair black for it," Rob said.

"In the make-up trailer, they said: 'Do you want the temporary dye or the permanent?'"

He added: "My hair is black in another movie because of playing Elvis in Rocketman, which got cut, which is very funny, but that's just the way the ball bounces sometimes.

"I know when Sharon Horgan and I were making Catastrophe, we would frequently cut out things that we really enjoyed, just for time, so I bear no ill-will towards the makers of Rocketman."

Since its release, Rocketman has been hit with claims of 'straightwashing' which its star Taron Egerton has since addressed.

Based on Elton John's life, the film's producer Matthew Vaughn previously told Digital Spy how the singer encouraged Rocketman to "push the boundaries".

It has also been described by its stars as a "musical fantasy".

Rocketman is in cinemas now.
