The royal family wish the Duchess of Sussex happy birthday
The Duchess of Sussex celebrates her 39th birthday in Los Angeles today.
Despite the Sussexes stepping down as senior royals earlier this year, members of the royal family have shared public birthday well-wishes for Meghan across social media.
The official royal family Instagram account captioned a post of Meghan with the Queen at their first joint royal engagement, writing: “Wishing The Duchess of Sussex a very happy birthday!”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also took the time to commemorate her birthday, by posting a sweet photograph of Meghan undergoing past royal duties.

Meghan will celebrate her birthday in Los Angeles with her husband Prince Harry and their 14-month-old son, Archie.
The couple have been spending lockdown in the US in their new home and have used the time to share powerful messages on issues close to their hearts, including Meghan's moving speech on equality and racial injustice following the death of George Floyd.
Earlier this year, Meghan and Harry made the decision to step down from their roles as senior members of the royal family.
At the time of leaving, the Sussexes confirmed they'd continue to "fully support Her Majesty the Queen" and their decision to step back was an attempt to carve out a "progressive new role within this institution".
A new biography, Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family, promises an unprecedented insight into the couple's story and will be released this summer.
