What is the RuPaul's Drag Race UK prize?
After a year away, RuPaul's Drag Race UK is finally back in our lives and on our screens tonight (28th September) for a brand new season full of queens competing to be crowned the UK's next Drag Race Superstar.
The BBC Three reality competition series sees 10 queens from across the UK compete in a series of mini challenges (we're so excited for the library to be open) and maxi challenges such as the Snatch Game, before heading down the runway in an outfit in keeping (or not) with the week's theme.
The queens are then judged by RuPaul himself and his judges Michelle Visage, Graham Norton and Alan Carr, as well as celebrity guest judges. The two weakest queens of the week must then battle it out in a fierce lip-sync to decide who should stay and who will be sashaying away.
The format continues as so until the final episode which often sees the queens write and perform their own verse of one of Ru's songs, before heading down the runway one last time and competing in a final lip sync before the series winner is announced.
But apart from the epic title of the UK's Drag Race Superstar, what else does the winner receive? Here's the lowdown on the RuPaul's Drag Race UK's prizes.
What does the winner of RuPaul's Drag Race UK receive?
Following in the footsteps of previous Drag Race UK winners The Vivienne, Lawrence Chaney, Krystal Versace and Danny Beard, this season's winner is likely to receive an "all-expenses paid trip to Hollywood to create their own digital series with the producers of RuPaul's Drag Race."
The Vivienne went onto create her own digital series called The Vivienne Takes on Hollywood which follows her on her journey to create her own music video. Lawrence Chaney's series Tartan Around came out in 2022 and sees Lawrence exploring the US.
Krystal Versace's series Keeping Up with Krystal Versace which aired in 2023 follows Krystal in her career post Drag Race UK. And Danny Beard is due to host the official RuPaul's Drag Race UK after-show The After-Shave With Danny Beard, which airs after each new Drag Race UK episode on BBC Three.
They also receive the coveted crown and sceptre from Fierce Drag Jewels.
What is the weekly RuPaul's Drag Race UK prize?
As well as the final prize at the end of the series, each week's winner receives a RuPeter Badge, a play on the iconic badge from everyone's favourite childhood series Blue Peter.
Why are the prizes different to the US series?
In the original RuPaul's Drag Race, and many other international additions, for the final prize and weekly prizes the queens often receive large ticket prizes from luxury holidays, to cash prizes, to a year's supplies of make-up.
However, as the UK series airs on the BBC, which does not allow any adverts or sponsorships on its channels, RuPaul's Drag Race UK is not permitted to include the sorts of prizes we see in other versions.
We'd still be pretty impressed with the RuPeter badge tbf.
RuPaul's Drag Race UK starts tonight at 9pm on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer
