Universal Pictures purchased the rights to Spears' bestselling 2023 memoir The Woman in Me after what was a "highly competitive auction," according to a press release. No casting for the film has been announced yet, but Wicked director Jon M. Chu is attached to helm the film, while Platt is set to produce.

When asked by ET if he had an actor in mind to play him in the film, Asghari said, "I'm really just focusing on my craft."

Asghari and Spears first began dating in 2017 before they tied the knot in 2022. The two split in August 2023, but in April, Asghari told PEOPLE he doesn't regret the time he spent with Spears.
