Samuel Johnson's emotional final message to Connie

In the wake of Connie Johnson's public memorial service, Samuel Johnson has posted a heartbreaking farewell video to their Love Your Sister Facebook page.

Sharing the video with the 'Villagers' who supported Connie and Samuel throughout their drive for cancer awareess and funding, Samuel captioned it simply, "Just perfect".

The moving commemoration featured previously private, unseen footage and photographs of Connie throughout her life, including as a young teenager.

A voiceover by Samuel, aka his family nickname "Sammy Seal", pays heartfelt tribute to his late sister's courage and determination, taking special care to distinguish her as a mother who died of cancer, as opposed to the more saccharine "warrior on some journey".

Samuel's letter in full:

Hey, Con. You wouldn't believe what's happened since your love fest with the governor general at the hospice.

You were tributed in Federal Parliament.

You were credited publicly for helping get the medical research future fund over the line – and $66 million in interest from that fund has already been released.

The nation has celebrated you as a mum who died of cancer, rather than as a warrior on some journey, which I know will make you so happy.

Millions have been flowing through to research and the coins keep coming.

And just last night, we got an email from the f***ing prime minister! Asking how to buy Connie Cottonsocks! We're gonna send him a pair. Rainbow-coloured.

I don't have to say I miss you. Or that you changed me for the better. Or that I loved you.

Connie, there is only one thing left for me to say.

Thank you. Thank you, sweetheart.

This isn't just from me. I'm talking from the whole village now.

Thank you for your laughter. Thank you for seeing this village before we all did.

Thank you for reminding us that the big things are actually little – and the little things are best.

Thank you for teaching us that now is awesome, even though you've got no more now and no more awesome.

And, just so you know, your husband Mike has stepped up since you stepped down. Your boys are sad, but they're proud. And I've got a feeling that they'll become even finer than you imagined that they would.

I've got a feeling you'd come back and scold me if I didn't finish this letter to you in this way, and the villagers told me to tell you, loud and clear: I've got this cancer thing covered.

Connie Cottonsocks, it's been a stunning ride.

And it has indeed been my pleasure to be your Sammy Seal.

In life, and now in death, I remain not just your little brother, but as always – very truly yours.
