Sarah Ferguson Wrote the Sweetest Note for Princess Beatrice on What Would Be Her Wedding Day
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the royal family was gearing up for a royal wedding. May 29 was the original date of Princess Beatrice's wedding, though travel restrictions, self-quarantine, and social distancing have postponed the ceremony. However, Beatrice's mother, Sarah Ferguson, took some time to post about what could have been, sharing a childhood photo of Beatrice on Instagram and assuring her followers, friends, and family that there will be a celebration as soon as lockdown is over.
Beatrice announced her wedding date back in February, Entertainment Tonight reports. She was set to wed fiancé Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi at St. James's Palace in London and have a reception at the gardens of Buckingham Palace. Later, in March, the palace confirmed that the wedding date would change as the world braced itself to slow the spread of the coronavirus. Then, People reported that the wedding had been canceled altogether. A spokesperson for Beatrice and Mozzi explained that global events were taking precedent.
"They aren’t even thinking about their wedding at this time," the spokesperson said. "There will come a time to rearrange, but that’s not yet."

Ferguson's post echoed her daughter's sentiment, noting that "the most important thing is health and love today." She went on to offer love to any couple whose wedding was affected by the pandemic.
"Love you my darling Beatrice. You have given me more joy than I could ever wish for," Ferguson wrote. "I am so excited to celebrate yours and Edo's love when we all are out of lockdown. The most important thing is health and love and today I send it to you and all the other people that were getting married during this time ... so proud of you all."

ET adds that there were no plans to televise Beatrice's wedding, though her sister Eugenie's wedding was. The magazine notes that while stations such as ITV and the BBC covered royal weddings in the past, neither commented on why they wouldn't do the same for Beatrice. Many believe that the networks did not want to air the wedding because of Prince Andrew's connections to the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.
