Sarah Hyland Wants to “Gag” at How She and Wells Adams Started Dating

From Cosmopolitan

  • Sarah Hyland opened up exclusively to Cosmopolitan about how she and Wells Adams started dating.

  • Their relationship began after she tweeted about him while watching The Bachelorette.

  • Wells proposed to Sarah in July 2019 and they’re in the process of planning their wedding.

Unlike many stans’ dedicated dreams of tweeting at their celebrity crush and getting married to them, it actually worked for Sarah Hyland. While gracing Cosmopolitan’s May cover, Sarah Hyland admitted she actually wants to “gag” over how she and Wells Adams started dating, but you’re forgiven if you’re taking notes because their relationship is legit like a 21st century fairy tale.

For those who haven’t done a deep dive on how the Modern Family actress initially connected with Bachelor Nation’s favorite bartender, know that their love story began with a few tweets that Sarah fired off while watching season 12 of The Bachelorette.

After Wells saw her tweet about how impressive his reading list is, he DM’d her. Eventually, those DMs turned to texts, which morphed into voice memos, which evolved into actual phone calls. Once they passed the FaceTime stage, Sarah and Wells finally met up to go on an actual date. Sarah revealed, “It’s the most millennial thing in the entire world. I kind of want to gag at it.”

The beginning of their relationship definitely had its own fast-paced rhythm, and if you think her having to undergo a second kidney transplant after their second date would’ve pumped the brakes a little, you definitely haven’t been keeping up with them. Before they even defined their relationship, Wells flew from Nashville to Los Angeles to be with Sarah on the weekends while she recovered.

Fast-forward a month and they were already in love, “talking about what kinds of weddings we wanted four days after we made things official,” Sarah recalled. Acknowledging the “when you know, you know” cliché, Sarah said, “It’s so fucking true. At least it was for me.”

Wells proposed to Sarah in July 2019 with a pricey engagement ring, and while they haven’t revealed their wedding date yet, the planning is already in full swing—Sarah already has her “Bride Tribe.” Unfortunately, their ceremony won’t be televised and Chris Harrison won’t be officiating, so keep your eyes glued to their Instagrams for wedding pics.
