Bancroft star Sarah Parish has been flown back to the UK after fracturing her spine in Turkey.

The actor, 53, hurt her back and broke a rib after a “nasty fall on a very hard surface” during a half-term holiday with her family.

She has now revealed that she has arrived home, sharing a picture showing her on a plane and thanking her “hero” husband for organising it.

She added the hashtag “#hero.”

Before her accident, Parish shared snaps and videos on Instagram of her soaking up the sun and the stunning view from her hotel.

Others showed the family enjoying adventurous pursuits such as wakeboarding and wake surfing.

However, Parish then uploaded a shot showing her in a hospital bed.

The actor - who is best known for playing Det Supt Elizabeth Bancroft - wrote: “A broken rib??

"No, no, that’s not enough for this f*** wit. Let’s pop in to the equation a nasty fall on a very hard surface resulting in a fractured spine. Yes, that’s better."

“Spending a couple of extra days in Turkey but not at the lovely @hillsidebeachclub," added the Cutting It star.

"At the local Turkish hospital. FFS."

She added that "life really does appear to be taking a massive dump on my head right now".

It's not the first time that Parish has broken something - three years ago she suffered a broken leg after trying to snowboard on a plastic sledge.
