Selma Blair Feels 'in a Great Place' to Find Love and Says She Has 'Hope': 'I Think I Deserve It'
"I still believe if I’m just true to myself, that person will come into my life one day," she said
Selma Blair is ready to find the one.
As Blair, 51, appeared on the cover of Glamour for the 2023 Women of the Year issue, she told the magazine she is ready to put herself out there romantically for the first time since she announced her multiple sclerosis diagnosis back in 2018.
However, the Cruel Intentions actress said re-entering the dating scene won't be easy for her.
"I think the disability word ... it just confuses people,” Blair said. “Like, as if I don’t have a vagina.”
The actress said being in love is "nothing to take lightly" in terms of how it affects a person's spirit: “It colors everything. I still believe if I’m just true to myself, that person will come into my life one day."
“I think I deserve it, and think I’m in a great place to show up as the best version of me. It's the first time I have hope," Blair said. "And I could have never said that in my life before.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Blair recalled that she "had a bad relationship" prior to her diagnosis.
"I didn’t realize how emotionally abusive and controlling they were, taking advantage of meeting me in a really vulnerable time," she claimed. "I was convinced that’s what I deserved. When you’re in a rough spot, you can meet some opportunistic people. It’s really dangerous.”

Blair told Glamour she recently met a man at a birthday dinner for a friend, and she found him exciting.
“Something in this person inspired me to see myself differently by the way he looked at the world,” she said. “Just from that brief meeting, I thought, 'I have something I didn’t know I did.' ”
The actress is mom to 12-year-old son Arthur, whom she shares with with her ex, fashion designer Jason Bleick.
Blair was previously in a relationship with Ronald Carlson, whom she was granted a restraining order against in March 2022 after he allegedly physically attacked her earlier that year. Carlson requested his own restraining order against Blair after, and both parties dropped the restraining orders in September 2022, according to TMZ.
