Shock in Tenerife after Spanish doctors find dead turtle inside woman's vagina
Police in Tenerife have launched an investigation after a dead turtle was found inside a British woman’s vagina.
According to local media reports, the ex-pat complained of lower abdominal pain on Saturday following a night of partying with British friends a few days earlier.
Medics at the El Mojon medical centre in Arona, south Tenerife, removed the turtle and said that the woman’s pain was a result of an infection caused by the reptile.

A police source in Tenerife said: “This incident did happen and the reports are true. The woman does not know how the reptile ended up where it did and we don’t either.”
Spanish paper ABC reported: “A woman of British origin went to A&E at El Mojon in Arona, Tenerife, on Saturday because she felt pain in her private parts.
“The duty doctors inspected her and saw that her discomfort was due to the fact that the woman, who lives on the island, had a dead turtle inside her vagina which had caused a serious infection.”
