Shooting death in Dartmouth ruled homicide
Halifax police are now calling the death of a man in Dartmouth early Sunday a homicide.
Police responded to multiple reports of gunshots being fired near Lahey Road and Clarence Street just before 3 a.m.
When they arrived, they found two people — a 30-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman — with gunshot wounds. Both were taken to hospital.
The woman's injuries were said to be non-life-threatening, but the man was later pronounced dead.
Halifax police spokesperson Const. Martin Cromwell says the province's medical examiner service has determined the man's cause of death to be homicide. He did not say if any suspects connected to the case had been arrested.
Police say there is nothing to suggest for now that the death was the result of intimate partner violence.
Cromwell said anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact police.
